Ian has recently joined Canford to take up the post of Director of Rowing. After eight successful years coaching at Cambridge he moved to Australia to join the Mercantile Rowing Club for two years. Ian returned to England to coach last year.

He has rowed for a number of clubs in his competitive career, including local club, Christchurch, as well as Leander, Tideway Scullers and Vesta. He represented Great Britain at senior world's level in the 1980's before becoming a coach.

Ian comes with a wealth of rowing knowledge at all levels, having coached the 'Coupe De Jeunesse' men's junior double scull in 2005 to a silver medal at this junior 'European Championships'. At home, his crews have won four Henley medals in the last decade.

He is looking forward to the coming season and giving Canford crews the opportunity to show their potential on the regatta circuit and at international level. Ian says that he is motivated by working with motivated athletes.
