U10 Prep Cricket Tournament 2008

On Sunday 8 June, six teams competed for the 2008 Canford School U10 cricket trophy. In glorious sunshine and to the cheers of their traveling supporters, Sandroyd and Twyford emerged undefeated from the opening rounds to meet in the final.

It proved a match worthy of the occasion, with glorious drives, a six worthy of Kevin Pietersen, and much frantic scrambling of quick singles. In the event, Twyford needed 11 to win off the last over with six wickets in hand, and reached their target with a cleverly executed single from the last ball (having run two byes to the wicket-keeper on the preceding ball). Pilgrim's finished in third place, followed by Durlston Court, Dumpton and West Hill Park. Canford’s cricket coach handed out trophies and individual player medals as players and spectators enjoyed a well-deserved tea.
