Choir Tour to Venice

Canford Chapel Choir

The Chapel Choir have just returned from an October half term tour of Venice and Verona. Over the course of three days, the choir performed in three churches in Venice and one in Verona. They were honoured to be allowed to participate in a mass service in St Mark’s Basilica on their first evening, singing four motets. The second day saw them give two concerts. The first, in St Giovanni e Paulo, attracted an audience of nearly two hundred people while the second, in the smaller church of Santa Maria del Miracoli, nearly one hundred. Having seen the sights of Venice, they went to Verona on the third day and, after some spontaneous singing during the visit to the Roman Amphitheatre, the final concert was well received in a local church there.

All of the pupils have returned, literally buzzing with excitement about the tour: they thoroughly enjoyed seeing the unique sights of Venetian Italy and singing in some splendid venues. A full review of the tour by some of the pupils will appear on the music pages soon, and in the next edition of The Canfordian. Photos of the tour and recordings of the concerts will also be available in due course.
