GCSES 2008: Canfordians Make The Grade
Following on from the outstanding successes at A level last week, Canford School pupils, yet again, have cause for celebrations with the news that this year’s GCSE results see the highest A* pass rate in the School’s history.

41% of grades are at A* and 79.4% at A*/A, and the average grade across all pupils above an A; the highest in Canford’s history.

The results in languages were again very strong with only 23 entries out of 116 achieving less than an A as were the Sciences and Maths with over 50% at A*. On the creative side pupils did particularly well in Art where 97% of grades were A*.

Nathan Riddell, who achieved 9 A* grades.
Overall, out of 1107 entries only 37 were awarded less than a grade B compared with 62 last year. Special congratulations to Tom Acworth, Zara Aiken, Charlotte Burrows, Katharine Clements, George Davidson, Rebecca Dyson and Nathan Riddell who all achieved 9 A*s.  Headmaster, Mr John Lever, said “I am particularly pleased to see success across such a range of subjects. Much hard work has gone in. It is gratifying to see such excellence in areas of national decline, most notably Sciences and Languages.”
