Headline News: U14s Win County Hockey Cup
U14s Win County Hockey Cup

On Tuesday 10th February, Canford’s U14 team won the County Hockey Cup for the fourth year in succession, scoring 6 goals and conceding none in the tournament.

The semi final was a clash against Gillingham who had beaten Clayesmore 3-0 to reach this stage of the competition. After a slow start, the side began to play some fast and aggressive hockey and a rapid hat trick by Ryan Younger before half time wrapped up the game. Ben Boon added another in the second half to leave Canford comfortable winners. In the final, we met a tidy Bryanston team who had defeated Sherborne 5-2 in the other semi-final. It was Canford who dominated the early stages but again failed to convert a couple of chances and required some excellent tackling at the back to keep out of trouble. Bryanston looked dangerous on the break but it gave some relief when Ben Boon converted a short corner to put Canford ahead. Despite tired legs, the boys passed the ball well at times and deserved their second well-taken goal by Younger.

Another strong team performance, which sees the side reaching half term having played six and won six, including victories over strong Millfield and Taunton teams.
