Ysgol Bro Myrddin School  111 (R Graham 5-13)
Canford 113-3 (Darby 50)

Our U15 cricketers have reached the National Semi-Final of the Lord's Taverners Trophy for Schools.

Having made the long journey to Carmarthen, Wales, on Sunday afternoon, the team played in glorious sunshine on Monday against Ysgol Bro Myrddin School.  It was a closely fought match, with the opposition scoring quickly in the first ten overs. However, as the heat and humidity rose, Canford's swing bowling began to cause problems for our competitors.  Ben Upton and Robert Graham were especially effective; support from an outstanding fielding performance allowed Graham to take 5 wickets for just 13 runs.   Tom Darby took control of the bowling, batting well with Ben Upton. Having made the game a little more comfortable with a rapidly scored 73, Darby was caught and bowled with Canford needing just 20 more runs. Ben Upton and Jonny Michael steered the team home with the rain just beginning to fall.

The team must now prepare for the National Semi Final in two weeks time, where they must beat the winners of the South East group winners (between Eton and Royal Grammar School, Guildford).

Well done to all players and coaches - and good luck for the final!
