Expert coaching is provided by Michael Griggs. He’s an ECB level 3 coach and an ECB tutor/assessor; he also works regularly as a manager for the MCC on their Spirit of Cricket Challenge grassroots programme, and for five years he was the Chairman of Selectors for England Women, including selecting the Ashes-winning side of 2005. He was the recipient of a prestigious ECB/Lord’s Taverners overseas coaching scholarship that took him to Sri Lanka for six weeks in 2005 to carry out research on the development of spin bowling in that country. Michael joined Canford in 2008 from his “winter” job as Director of Coaching at a premier league club in Auckland, New Zealand. His role at Canford is principally with the 1st XI though he and Julian Shackleton work with all age groups and abilities.
