Canfords boys' 1st VIII rowed in the men’s division at senior 1 and 2 level’s finishing 3rd and 5th, only being beaten by Bristol and Bath Universities by narrowest of margins but convincingly beating school rivals Pangbourne. Worcester grammar school and Bryanston.

Canford girls won W.J18 VIII’s convincingly,  beating school rivals Monkton Combe.

Canford J15 boys broke an oar and rowed over the course to finish 3rd, still a great effort with 6 oarsmen.

Other Canford contenders were the J16 boys' double, Shell girls' coxed quads and the girls' coxed fours. Freddie Lickiss sculled in the 1st Division and rowed in the senior boys' eight in the 2nd division.

U16A fixture cancelled due to the Canford squad playing in the West Prelim Finals.

A fantastic win for the team 12-3

The boys won all 3 games (Richard Langdon School  4-0, Kings Taunton 5-2 and Exeter 2-0) and now take part in West Finals at Millfield on Thursday 10th March. 

Canford came 4^th overall (missing out on 3^rd by 1 point)

GB long distance junior trials -  Boston Lincolnshire 19th/20th Feb 2011

Rowers from Canford took part in the GB Junior long distance trial held over 5 kilometres last weekend with good results.

Canfordians performed well in Boston.  Four athletes should potentially be invited to the spring assessments held in Nottingham in April where they will undergo further seat racing to gain selection for Munich junior regatta in Germany.

Canford lost 4-3 on penalties

On Saturday 12 Feb Ben Chapple, Charlotte Michelmore and Oli Caudwell represented Dorset in the South West Schools Cross-Country Championships. All three ran very well over a tough, fast, multi-lap course near Taunton. Ben came 33rd in the Senior Boys race, Charlotte 35th in the Senior Girls and Oli 36th in the Inter Boys event. They were all the fifth to count for Dorset and by virtue of their performances all qualify for the National Schools race in Nottingham next month.

This is the first time Canford has had three runners get through to the national finals - many congratulations to them and we wish them every success in Nottingham.
