Health Centre

The purpose-built Health Centre, situated centrally within the Canford campus, is staffed full-time by qualified nurses. Doctors’ surgeries are held every weekday and physiotherapy and confidential counselling services are available to the pupils on site. All houses have matrons who can handle minor ailments or injuries and both Poole and Bournemouth provide a full range of care for more serious medical issues.

The Health Centre staff are in full communication with houses and senior staff and the senior sister is involved in aspects of health promotion.

All matters of health and safety of pupils and staff are taken extremely seriously at Canford. Those new to the community are quickly trained in key procedures such as fire evacuation and our risk assessment procedures, followed for trips and/or events, are reviewed regularly.
