Ten Tors training challenges for Fourth Formers

April 2012

Dartmoor can be a wild place to visit at the best of times and no more so than last weekend when eleven intrepid Fourth Formers completed their Ten Tors 2012 selection and training.   North-East gale force driven rain persisted throughout the Sunday walk. The group learnt to deal with navigation in these cold, miserable conditions as well as personal and team safety. Smiley faces gradually reappeared after bowls of soup and cheesy chips!  Monday turned out to be a more pleasant experience, with all eleven still up for the challenge and walking buoyantly.  One of the highlights of the weekend was a single, brief blue patch of sky which the entire party stopped and stared at longingly...

The weekend's training has prepared the team in good stead for the Ten Tors challenge on 11 -  13 May.  We wish them every success and some better weather conditions.
