Spiritual Life
Christian values underpin our school society and there are many opportunities to explore and discuss moral choices. All members of the school attend midweek chapel in the Norman church within the grounds. Sunday services vary in character and are compulsory for those not on exeat.
Less formally, bible study meetings, communion services and casual discussion in houses provide opportunities. Staff and pupils share responsibility for these occasions. Of course the classroom also provides a lively arena for debate. Pupils from other denominations and faiths are welcome at Canford and are helped to make their own arrangements for worship if they wish.
The spiritual aim of the school is to nurture faith where it exists while arousing curiosity in all pupils towards the spiritual dimension that they all possess. All are encouraged to explore religious and ethical issues and in this the ordained chaplain is supported by a number of members of staff.
