Canford School and The Bourne Academy are proud to celebrate 15 years of a pioneering educational partnership, one of the most successful independent-state school collaborations in the UK.
Since 2010, Canford and The Bourne Academy have developed a strong and collaborative partnership, working together to enhance educational opportunities and outcomes for pupils. What began as a mission to support a new Academy has grown into dynamic collaboration, benefiting both institutions through shared expertise, academic enrichment, co-curricular initiatives, and leadership development.
The partnership has led to significant achievements, including:
- Academic Excellence - The Bourne Academy's exam results and Ofsted rating have improved, with many pupils progressing to Russell Group universities.
- Student Enrichment - From joint Oxbridge preparation and medical training to STEM challenges and theatre productions, pupils from both schools benefit from diverse learning experiences.
- Bursary and Mentorship opportunities - Over 20 pupils have received Canford Sixth Form bursaries, while all Bourne Academy Sixth Form pupils gain access to individual business mentors.
- Sporting and Extra-curricular success - From Duke of Edinburgh expeditions to Greenpower F24 electric car racing, collaboration extends far beyond the classroom.
- National Recognition - The partnership has been highlighted in the Independent Schools Council 'Celebrating Partnerships' report and shortlisted for prestigious community engagement awards.
