Several years ago, Prince William and David Attenborough launched a new global competition called The Earthshot Prize. Each year winners are awarded £1 million to help support their projects https://earthshotprize.org
Canford runs its own junior Earthshot Prize competition based on the international version each year, asking pupils in Years 5 and 6 to look at the shortlisted entries and decide which one they think should win. Entries must tell us about what the winner does and how it is helping improve the environment.
We are always hugely impressed by the creativity in the wide range of entries in the form of writings, posters, designs, recorded films and 3D models, and this year was no exception. Many congratulations to the following who were selected for awards:
Year 6 competition

Year 5 competition

Alex Boulton, Head of Geography at Canford, commented:
“I was very impressed with the thoughtful approach to the entries this year and am delighted that our competition generates further learning about environmental concerns and ways in which we can support our planet better. Many congratulations to those selected for awards, but thank you also to every pupil who took part. I hope you enjoyed creating your entries as much as I enjoyed receiving them.”
