Dorset Dogs

As part of its work supporting over 70 different local charities, Canford pupils and staff have been helping Dorset Dogs creating resources for use in their promotional materials. Sarah Allen, Education co-ordinator, visited Canford on 14th March to thank pupils and staff for their efforts and support with several four legged friends owned by Canford staff joining in the photoshoot. Also displayed in the picture are some of the illustrations pupils have been working on.

Dorset Dogs champions positive management for people with dogs in town, coast and countryside and promotes responsible dog ownership. It is well known that dogs are wonderful for our physical, mental and emotional wellbeing and if that goes hand in hand with responsible dog ownership there are strong benefits for the value, care and future protection given to our countryside, green spaces and wildlife.

The Dorset Dogs ethos is supported by many dog owners, dog businesses and charities, conservation and countryside organisations. The charity was established over 10 years ago and in 2013 won the KC Special Recognition Award. There are now well over 2000 Dorset Dogs human members and even more canine ones!

Sarah Allen, Education co-ordinator, said: “We are so grateful to the pupils at Canford School that have given their time to help us put together the resources that are essential for our work. We are a very small team covering a large area and the support we receive from volunteers in addition to many dog and countryside colleagues and the goodwill of responsible dog owners is essential to the work we do.”
