City Reach Camp

City Reach Camp

Children from the inner city community of Northam, Southampton, came to Canford over the weekend of 18th-19th June for the annual, fun filled activity camp.

Canford pupils enjoyed the experience just as much as the children, as the following review illustrates:

“Having seen how incredibly joyful the children were, as they took part in the Easter party earlier this year, it was a pleasure to see so many of them return to Canford once again!

The children quickly immersed themselves into the first activity of the day, as they splashed into the pool and flew themselves across the waters with their indestructible floats. Their smiles and excitement filled the pool, as they raised their woggles like swords into the air. With no time to spare, after a short snack break, we headed off to Studland beach for a whole new round of activity.

Despite the unfortunate weather, the children’s enthusiasm could not be defeated! Everyone joined in and, together, we built and decorated castles, dashed across the beach, and delivered buckets of water, creating a moat. These moments of joy and laughter will certainly stay with me for years.

Not only was this a great opportunity to work with other Canfordians from different years, but also, to share our warmth and help create the best, invaluable memories for the children. We all thoroughly enjoyed this experience and cannot wait to meet again for the Christmas party!”

David Allen, Director of Community Action at Canford, commented:

“After a 3 year absence it was great to welcome City Reach back to the school to camp for the night. This year City Reach brought their girls group which has been generously sponsored by the Friends of Canford. A great time was had by all”.
