Drama Scholar International Film award success

Lower Sixth pupil Evie C recently appeared in a pilot episode of a production called ‘Small Town Witches’ where a disgraced witch must convince her estranged coven to join her in a daring heist to restore their magic. The pilot was filmed in the UK and the series is currently in early stages of development and expected to film on the Isle of Wight.

‘Small Town Witches’ has now gone on to win several awards, including, Best Series Pilot, Best Director (Melissa Graves), and Best Screenplay at the New York International Film Awards (NYIFA), Best Cinematography at the Paris Women’s Cinefest.

Evie has featured in many school productions on the Layard Theatre stage, and we congratulate her on this incredible achievement entering the world of professional acting.

Rikki Jackson, Head of Drama at Canford said:

It’s been very exciting to see Evie’s involvement in this project and shows just what can be achieved with passion, commitment and talent. I have no doubt we will see much more of Evie on the screen and stage in years to come.

Evie reflects on her experience:

I have always loved drama and learnt so much at Canford - and last summer when I auditioned with Melissa – it was a wonderful opportunity to be given the part. I worked with an amazing cast and crew and learnt a lot – an experience I will never forget.
