House Music 2024

House Music 2024

Pupils from across all houses and year groups took part in this year’s House Music competition. The competition is an impressive collaboration with everyone involved, especially so as it takes place just five weeks into the start of a busy new school year.

Day Houses competed for the winning awards in the Music School on Friday 4th October, with the Boarders’ event held on Sunday 6th October.

William Ings, the new Director of Music at Canford, created a new category for 2024, with the introduction of electronic music. Along with the traditional house songs, there were also contemporary and classical awards up for grabs. Pupils stepped up to the challenge and each house showcased four separate performances.

The Music School was a buzzing hive of activity and anticipation with both events boasting packed audiences. For those unable to attend, the shows were live streamed for all to enjoy.

A big thank you to our expert judge for the events, Danielle Green, Director of Music at Forres Sandle Manor. Our professional tech team expertly managed the live stream and audio, assisted by pupils Ella, Max, Matthias, Tianwen and Hector.

William Ings, Director of Music at Canford, said;

The spirit of this competition was fantastic, and the atmosphere, electric. In my eyes everybody was a winner, and we saw some outstanding performances. Every pupil that took to the stage showed absolute commitment, and I could not be more impressed.

The breadth of the musical styles performed make this event a true celebration of the variety and diversity of Music at Canford.
