Pupils from across all houses and year groups took part in this year’s House Poetry competition. The competition, launched on National Poetry Day, received a record number of entries this year.
Canford English teacher, Sam Crouch, said:
“There was a very high standard of entries for the 2023 House Poetry Competition, which is now in its third year. For the first time we introduced a whole-house category, where every year group in house contributed a verse or ideas to the overall theme of ‘Our Voice’. These were particularly impressive. There were also individual categories for entries on the National Poetry Day theme of Refuge and poems to celebrate the achievements of black women to celebrate Black History Month. Both of these led to some really insightful and empathetic writing, and the standard was even higher than ever.”
Congratulations to Lancaster House who were overall winners of this competition for the second year in a row, and to these pupils listed below. You can read each of the winning poems on the Canford blog.
