Remembrance 2025

Remembrance 2025

The Canford Community joined together to remember the fallen in whole school services and in their studies.

Pupils and staff gathered round the War Memorial on Tuesday 11th November to remember all those who lost their lives in combat. School chaplain Reverend Phil Jack led prayers and Lower Sixth pupil, Cadet Lance Corporal Zoe W played the Last Post and Reveille.

A whole school Remembrance chapel service was held in the Assembly Hall on Remembrance Sunday, 9th November. A member of the Royal Army Medical Services was our Guest Speaker. The Chapel Choir sang a beautiful rendition of Ave Verum Corpus by Mozart and the Chamber Choir sang Kyrie from Requiem by Duruflé. Cadet Lance Corporals Alice L and Alex E from the CCF, gave readings. After the service, the whole school community gathered on the Sunken Lawn for the Act of Remembrance. Wreaths were laid by the Heads of School, Cadet Sergeant Massimo B, Cadet Sergeant Natalia P, Finn B and Tilly B, as well as OC president Mrs Sheila Way with Lower Sixth pupil Zoe W repeating her wonderful trumpet performance. The wreath laying ceremony was watched over by the Colour Party of Canford School CCF. The Colour Party was made up of the Upper Sixth SNCOs, with Cadet Serjeant Alex F and Cadet Serjeant Rufus S having the honour of carrying the Colours and lowering the Colours during the Last Post to respect those Canfordians that lost their lives during the Second World War. It was a moving and poignant occasion.
