We were delighted to welcome a researcher from Talk Education in January to update Canford’s review in the guide. During her visit, she met pupils and staff from many different areas of school life, and declared afterwards:
“I loved every minute of my visit and left Canford with a smile on my face and a step in my stride! The school more than lived up to its glowing reputation.”
We think she has captured the essence of Canford perfectly in her report, with comments including:
“Academic staff are at the top of their game, but this is no pressure cooker. Lessons are geared firmly towards the individual.”
“Creative souls thrive at Canford: the busy drama department has strong links with the National Youth Theatre … Many pupils learn two or even three instruments … There’s a real sport-for-all ethos.”
“Days at Canford are pacey from dawn to dusk, and once lessons finish there’s a full-on timetable of extras such as photography, drone flying, roman mosaics, juggling, archery, lacrosse, climbing, bridge and more.”
“Boarding is the real deal: full boarding only … day pupils often pop in for Saturday japes to avoid FOMO!”
