Winning School in National Maths Competition

Winning School in National Maths Competition

Eleven Canfordians entered the Independent School Mathematician of the Year (ISMOTY) award this year, the first entry by the school into this prestigious national competition.

Pupils entered both the KS4 and KS5 categories and were required to answer 45 increasingly difficult questions in an hour.

We were thrilled to learn that Canford was the winning school in the KS4 category, with all pupils taking part scoring highly.  A particular well done to Johnny who took the top spot and won the KS4 national competition with an incredible 275 out of 300 marks.  Johnny received a trophy and £500 prize for winning the national competition.

Jack Wilson, Maths teacher and organiser of the entry commented:

I am delighted that these young mathematicians volunteered to take part in this competition, and with such success.  We are very proud to be nurturing their interest and talent in the subject - hats off to them all!
