While not the beginning of the Easter Term today that we were all hoping for, we are still very excited to welcome back everyone associated with Canford and look forward to a happy, stimulating and inspiring term.
50 + Reunion
We were delighted to welcome 115 Old Canfordians and their guests to Canford on Thursday 6th February. Some had not returned to Canford for many years and were intrigued to see the School as it is today and have the opportunity to reminisce about their time here.
The day began with welcoming refreshments in The Great Hall, followed by a short tour around the main teaching areas of the School. After a group photograph, everyone congregated in The Layard Theatre to listen to a talk about ‘Canford – Past, Present and Future’ presented by Headmaster, Ben Vessey, Former Head of History and OC, Mark Rathbone S74, and OC and Governor, Barry Coupe F70. This was then followed by lunch in the main building. OCs and their guests were escorted through the servery and to the dining area by current pupils. The relaxed lunch offered the chance to try and recognise faces and swap stories with those they had shared their school years with over fifty years prior and talk to current Canfordians and staff about boarding school life today.
Canford’s Development Director, Rowena Gaston said; “It was a pleasure to see so many Old Canfordians return to Canford. They thoroughly enjoyed their day and we have received many thank you notes expressing gratitude for a fantastic time. The combination of speakers enabled OCs to reminisce, think about their time and friendships made at school but also look into the future to see what is planned for Canford. It involved a lot of organisation from a great team but it was worth all of our efforts to see the joy on OC’s faces.”
