Canford places literacy at the heart of learning, Head of English, Richard Redwood, recommends inspiring reads for 16 year olds and the Canford library launches new systems to keep Canford Covid-secure.
Canford artist Jay Jones is displaying her latest work in the Coldstream Gallery. The exhibition, titled 'Spotted', will run from 7th February until 4th March and all in the Canford community are very welcome any time between 8:30am and 6pm each day.
This series of Jay Jones’s work continues her love of repeating and re-interpreting old, found images and objects with their aura of nostalgia. She uses ink, layers of paint and varnish to gradually obscure her original sources and re-combines them to make new compositions. This re-combining and deliberate blurring and fading of the imagery suggests the incomplete experience of remembering.
Motifs such as meticulously repeated spots, dogs and bright bursts of colour are reflections of Jay’s playful obsession with the process of interpreting and making.
