Bath Academy Selection for Canford School pupils
A fine season for Canford Rugby has been topped off with seven boys being selected once again for prestigious Bath Academy player programmes.
The school already has strong links as one of the Academy’s satellite training centres. Its vision is to produce the Rugby players and teams of the future, whilst consistently creating rounded individuals based on hard work, talent and humility. It is a wonderful achievement for so many of our boys to have been selected for such a programme, and they should be very proud of the hard work that has got them there. The Canfordians chosen are:
Thomas Sykes and Alex Rogers who have been invited to continue along the Player Development Group pathway as U16s
Chris McIntosh, Rob Tolcher, Luke Mehson and Will Butt who will all continue in the U18 Academy, with Will and Luke being named as England Academy Players
Arthur Cordwell will be involved in Senior Academy training over the summer and beyond, alongside his degree course at Bath University
In addition, Thomas Sykes, Joe Nalbantoglu and Alex Rogers all represented Bath at the U15 Festival at Cleve RFC, and Thomas and Alex also played for Bath at the Harrow School Rugby Festival in May.
Director of Rugby, Peter Short commented:
“This is a fantastic opportunity for the players selected and I am extremely proud of their achievements, hard work and commitment to Rugby this year. It is great to see that their success has been so well recognised by this prestigious Academy.”
