Biology Red Sea Diving Trip

Biology Red Sea Diving Trip
Karen Smith

During the summer break, Fifth Form and Lower Sixth biologists, accompanied by Canford staff, enjoyed a fascinating trip to the Red Sea on a diving expedition.

Biology teacher and keen diver Mr Hooker has been taking these expeditions for many years, and the 2019 trip was yet another memorable experience.   Spending a week on a ‘liveaboard’ gave the group the opportunity to dive multiple times each day.  They explored wrecks, and marvelled at the fantastic array of marine life including dolphins, turtles and more than 100 identified species of fish.

Pupils had to complete PADI instruction prior to going on the trip.  This year, Head of Classical Languages Mr Dant, took up the challenge of the PADI qualification and wrote an entertaining account of his first diving trip experience which you can read at the following link: Red Sea Diving Trip

Many thanks go to all the staff involved in making this amazing trip happen.
