Chamber Choir sung Eucharist at Oriel College
On February 14th, Canford’s Chamber Choir travelled to Oxford University to sing a joint service of Eucharist with Oriel College Chapel Choir. Music included Vierne’s Messe Solennelle and Fauré’s Cantique de Jean Racine. After a joint rehearsal, under the direction of Oriel’s Director of Music, Dr David Maw, the Chamber Choir was joined by a number of supporters from the Canford community, including some ex-members, for the service in Oriel’s recently restored Chapel dating back to 1642. Canford’s Chaplain, Rev. Jack, was invited to give the sermon.
James Aiken, Assistant Director of Music, commented: “The opportunity to sing these works within their proper context of a service, and in such beautiful surroundings of the College and Chapel buildings, is one which the Choir appreciated enormously and will remember for a long time to come. We are very grateful to Oriel and its Chapel community for having us up to sing this service with them”
