Charity Award for OC Imogen Still
Last week, former Canford pupil Imogen Still was presented with an award by the local charity Diverse Abilities for ‘Independent Event Organiser’.
After being inspired by other Diverse Abilities events, during her Upper Sixth year at Canford Imi organised a summer fair for the charity that saw hundreds of visitors attend. Former football manager Harry Redknapp opened the fair, which included live music, craft stalls, face painting, a BBQ and a host of games – all arranged by Imi. A total of £3,648 was raised for Diverse Abilities at this event, and so it is wonderful to see recognition for her hard work and determination in the form of this award.
Diverse Abilities is the only charity that supports children and adults with profound physical and/or learning disabilities, and their families, in Dorset. The charity provides a range of assistance, support and education services for young people aged two to nineteen, adults with disabilities, and their families through its Children’s Team, Adult Services, Langside School and an Advice Team, and so it is easy to see why Imogen felt so passionate about fundraising for this cause.
