City Reach Camping Weekend
On Saturday 17th June children from the inner city community of Northam in Southampton supported by the City Reach charity were welcomed back to Canford for the annual camp. The weather this year was the complete opposite of the previous one as we were blessed by blue skies and a heatwave! The day was set to be an action packed and fun-filled one, so once the group had arrived and dropped their bags off they joined our pupils and staff for lunch in the Great Hall before heading to the Sports Centre for a bounce on the trampolines and a swim in the pool to cool down. Mid-afternoon we then departed for Knoll Beach at Studland Bay for some beach games and supper, followed by hot chocolate back at the ‘Canford campsite’.
The good weather ran into Sunday, and so after a hearty cooked breakfast a number of outdoor games and activities were played at the campsite before our guests departed.
David Allen, Director of Community Action spoke of the weekend:
“This is always a very memorable weekend in our Community Action calendar and I am very grateful to the thirty five Canfordians who helped out in one way or another. It was great to see so many involved and was a fun and enjoyable weekend for everyone. I look forward to working with our pupils on this and other Community Action projects over the course of the next academic year.”
