DT Pupils turn Lego Creators during Lockdown
Fourth Form and Lower Sixth Design Technology pupils at Canford took part in a project during the Summer Term of remote learning which introduced them to product design and process.
The brief was to design a new Lego toy focused on the 6-14 age group market, limited in scope and scale to a cost of no more than £25. Ideally the toy’s theme would be linked to a film or film franchise, supporting an existing toy range or acting as a proposal for a new Lego range.
Key skills developed during the project included analysis of a design problem and use of CAD software to turn concepts into reality. Pupils were tasked to explore different themes and devise a range of starting points before sketching a number of ideas and deciding on their favourite. They then developed their thinking into something to create as a Lego based toy. They shared their work with fellow pupils and staff online. A great example of how learning has continued at Canford during the lockdown.
