Gap Year Fair 2019
Over 50 pupils from both Canford and other local schools explore the exciting options open to them on a Gap Year at an event in Long Gallery on Thursday 7th February.
A Gap Year can be a really rewarding chance to experience a different culture, learn a new language, develop new life skills or discover a hidden passion while also boosting job prospects. Organised in conjunction with Inspiring Futures https://inspiringfutures.org.uk, a company which aims to help young people realise their potential, there were representatives at the fair offering a variety of different Gap Year opportunities, such as volunteering on conservation projects around the globe to gaining ski instructor qualifications.
Michael Doherty, Head of Careers, commented:
“While not for everyone, there are some excellent reasons for taking a Gap Year. I hope this fair helped to broaden pupil horizons and make them aware of the wide variety of opportunities open to young people who would like to spend a year doing something completely different before heading to higher education or into the world of work.”
