House Art 2017
This year’s House Art competition had an edible theme. House reps were given, by lottery, an image of a famous work of art or object of design and the challenge was to create a version through the medium of baking. Creations needed to be sculpted in 3d and be entirely edible. Competition was fierce and the standard of entries was very high, giving Artist in Residence Sarah Harris and Rob Harrison a very difficult judging task. Many congratulations to winners Beaufort with their Tower of Babel, School for Best Direction of their Raft of the Medusa and Lancaster’s Best Tasting Ford DFV engine.
Nicola Will, Head of Art, commented:
“I was delighted with both the quality of the work and also the enthusiasm of the pupils towards this year’s competition. It was an excellent way for houses to get involved in a very creative project, and I expect the fact they were able to enjoy their artistic creations afterwards was a motivating influence too! Many thanks to Sarah Harris and Rob Harrison for judging and to all those who took part.”
