House Debating 2018

The final of the House Debating Competition took place on Friday 2nd February. The two debates, on the motions 'This House would abolish the Human Rights Act' and 'This House believes that university education should be free', were hotly contested by the four House teams which had got through the first round last term - Beaufort, Marriotts, Monteacute and School House. There was a very high standard of debating on display, both from the teams who were competing and in the floor debates.

In the final voting, the motion for the abolition of the Human Rights Act was passed, while free university education was defeated.

The judges, Mr Baldwin and Mr Fearnley, awarded the competition to School House, represented by Harry Mitchell and Matt Wilkinson.
