Huge congratulations to Lower Sixth Canfordian Mimi who has been placed second in the Girton College, University of Cambridge Humanities Writing Competition 2022.
Ivy House Finals
We are very proud to announce that Fifth Former Chloe has been selected as a winner in the Ivy House Future Leaders Competition 2022.
Young people from 71 countries entered the competition, described by Ivy House as ‘people who led brilliant teams, projects or initiatives. Entrepreneurs with great ideas. People who led themselves out of difficult situations or overcame challenges. People who supported their family or local community. People who have done something they’re proud of and have big plans for the future.’
On 19th January the top 50 ‘ones to watch’ competed in the final. Students were split into groups of 5 who had similar stories/focuses in their entries so that the judges could compare them as fairly as possible. The online finals day included the chance to work with some of the biggest brands, influencers and coaches alongside the finalists showcasing their ideas.
At the end of the day, the judges had the unenviable task of selecting just 10 winners. The Ivy House panel said:
Massive congratulations to the winners – after hearing their pitches we are in no doubt they will change the world.”
The winners will all receive a fantastic range of experiences and prizes including £1000, 1:1 mentor and career support from some of the most senior leadership coaches in the country and access to an incredible network of young leaders from a range of organisations including Nike, Deloitte and Google.
Chloe was thrilled with the news, saying: Wonderful! I am delighted to know that my mission to create the UK's first black teens magazine, called MelaTeen, to provide black role models to the black youth and allies, aged 11+, will begin. Amen.”
