Model UN 2018
19 Canfordians took part in the 4th annual Clayesmore Model United Nations conference, in four delegations representing China, Yemen, Poland and Sweden. They debated numerous current world issues including Artificial Intelligence, disputed territories and gun control.
More than half of them won awards for the high standard of their debating and accurate reflection of the views of the countries they represented, including Jack Salmon who was declared Best Delegate in the Economic and Social Committee, and Finn Baker, Lili Mikova and Katy Jack, who were each awarded Highly Commended Delegate awards in their committees.
Headmaster Ben Vessey was able to attend the conference and was hugely impressed by the high standard of commitment which the Canford delegates demonstrated, telling them afterwards: "This is a brilliant undertaking which is so good for your personal development in so many ways. I hope you will keep that involvement and spread the word to others to get involved in times to come."
