National Libraries Day
Canfordians celebrated National Libraries Day on Saturday 4th February 2017 with a ‘Speedy Reads’ event in the library during morning break. Pupils and staff were invited to recommend their favourite read in just 45 seconds to the person standing opposite them. Afterwards they had the opportunity to borrow the books to see if they lived up to their recommendation!
Favourite books ranged from The Road by Cormac McCarthy, Mountain: A Life on the Rocks by Steve Backshall, Brooklyn by Colm Tóibín and Do No Harm by Henry Marsh.
Mary Anne Hockey, Librarian, was delighted with the response to the event:
“It was fantastic to hear everyone’s enthusiasm for their favourite reads. I think the chocolate brownies helped to maintain the creative energy levels too! Many thanks to everyone involved in this fun literary event.”
