OC London Drinks '19
Our annual OC London Drinks Party was hosted at RSA House on Thursday 9th May. The House has been the intellectual and social home of some of the greatest thinkers and social activists of the past 260 years. At the heart of it all is a space designed to foster the creative thinking and collaborative action needed to address the challenges of our time so it seemed a fitting venue in which to welcome Old Canfordians.
Almost one hundred people attended ranging from OCs who left in the 1950s through to our newest OCs who left in 2018 and they were joined by a handful of Lower Sixth pupils who travelled from Canford for the evening.
Paul Merritt welcomed OCs on behalf of the OC Society and Ben Vessey, Headmaster talked about the special anniversary year ahead celebrating 50 years of co-education at Canford.
This event is always well attended with many regulars returning each year, together with new faces coming along for the first time. The room was full of conversation, many hugs were exchanged with OCs genuinely pleased to see old friends, reminisce and also meet new contacts.
“Thank you once again for a fabulous evening last night - it was wonderful to see you and great to meet a few Canfordians, who are going to go far!” Jamie
“A quick note to say thank you to you and your team for another excellent event – great fun as usual and good to meet some new faces. It was a good idea to bring some LVI pupils with you, particularly as those we spoke to now know I have a son starting at Canford in September!” Tim
Rowena Gaston, Canford’s Development Director said “It is a pleasure to host this occasion. OCs are always so grateful for all that we do in organising these events and to see smiles on so many faces and OCs making genuine meaningful connections makes it all worthwhile. We are looking forward to a year of co-education celebrations and next year’s London Drinks will be the culmination of this special anniversary.”
