Pringle Trophy 2019
This year’s Sir Stueart Pringle Trophy competition took place over the weekend of 5-6 October. This annual national competition at the Commando Training Centre, Lympstone is the premier inter-schools’ cadet event with marine cadets from schools across the UK testing their skills to the limit in a series of gruelling challenges.
Canford once again made the journey down to the Commando Training Centre to pit themselves against twenty other CCF RM Sections to face the challenge of the drill square, navigation, a section attack, some building clearance and of course the endurance tasks. This year the cadets were able to try out the assault course on what is fondly known as “Bottom Field” whilst also being put to the test with a stretcher race and finally the endurance course including Peter’s Pool and the Sheep dip.
Canford’s Lieutenant Colonel Dan Culley commented: “Our young team was placed 10th overall with the young bucks raring to go next year and take the competition by storm. However results are only a minor part; the teamwork, leadership, communication alongside a plethora of other soft skills not to mention the enjoyment of the weekend, made the cadets real winners in every sense.”
