Rowing Training Camp to Lago D'Orta Italy
The Easter holidays saw a very successful training camp for the Boat Club in Lago D’Orta, Italy. Canford athletes joined together with pupils from King’s Canterbury for a great experience of rowing and sculling.
The weather this year was damp with a fair amount of rain over the six days but this did not hinder the boys and girls as the lake conditions stayed calm for most of the time.
There was a significant amount of technical and physical work undertaken but the pupils also devoted time each afternoon to their academic work and it was pleasing to see pupils across the age groups helping one another. The camp was incredibly productive and we will hopefully return next year.
The accommodation and food were both of an excellent standard and our hosts were so welcoming, even presenting both schools a joint cake to commemorate our stay.
Director of Rowing, Ian Dryden, commented: “This annual camp is an excellent way for our pupils to consolidate their rowing after the spring Head race’s and to prepare for the challenges of the regatta season and to form friendships and share rowing experiences with those from another school. “
