SHINE Graduation 2017
The evening of Wednesday 22nd March saw the 5th annual SHINE graduation ceremony take place in the Long Gallery. Pupils, parents and staff from all three partner schools in Bournemouth (Christ the King, Heathlands, Kingsleigh) and from Canford were in attendance to hear the children explain about their experience of the SHINE programme ‘Serious Fun on Saturdays’. Each Saturday in the Christmas Term, the pupils came to Canford for a morning of challenges working with Canford staff and pupils across many different academic departments.
The audience was also treated to a short film presentation that the pupils had made which was a trailer for the book they had been reading throughout the duration of the SHINE course. Helen Craig, our graduate assistant for Drama had been working with the pupils for the past month getting things ready for the big evening and the pupils had also presented assemblies in their schools on the day before the graduation event.
We are now eagerly awaiting the launch event which starts off the process for the next cohort of pupils in June.
