Shine Graduation 2018
The evening of Wednesday 21st March saw the 6th annual SHINE graduation ceremony take place in the Long Gallery. Pupils, parents and staff from all three partner schools in Bournemouth (Christ the King, Heathlands, Kingsleigh) and from Canford were in attendance to hear the children explain about their experience of the SHINE programme ‘Serious Fun on Saturdays’. Each Saturday in the Christmas Term, the pupils came to Canford for a morning of challenges working with Canford staff and pupils across many different academic departments.
The audience was treated to a short presentation that the pupils had put together with the assistance of our graduate assistant for Music, Penny Carpenter. The children combined music, poetry and dance to show their highlights of being involved in the SHINE programme. This was followed by presentations to the children and a buffet to end the evening.
We are now eagerly awaiting the launch event which starts off the process for the next cohort of pupils in June.
