Rachel Lines

Head of History
BA (University of Exeter)

Rachel completed her combined honours degree of History and Ancient History at the University of Exeter, where she went on to complete her PGCE, achieving the Ted Wragg award for outstanding trainee within her cohort. After working in the state sector, Rachel moved to Canford to take on the role of Head of Department and is also a tutor in Lancaster House. Rachel has a specialist interest in Nazi Germany and the Holocaust, which she studied at university. Outside of school, Rachel regularly attends the gym and is a keen netballer.

Lenka Collison

BSc, PGCE (University of Bath)

After graduating with a First Class Honours Degree in Politics with Economics as well as a PGCE in History, both from the University of Bath, Lenka began her career teaching History at Prior Park College in 2004. Here, she was Head of Department from 2007 to 2016, having previously been Deputy Day Housemistress and Assistant Exams Officer. She also co-ordinated Model United Nations and led Senior Girls Cross Country. At A Level, her specialism is American History and thus, she has been an examiner for AQA. Lenka moved to Canford in 2016 when her husband, Matt, was appointed Director of Hockey and she is currently a tutor in Franklin House.

Lee Mahony

BA (University of Liverpool)
MLitt (University of St Andrew's)
PGCE (Cantab)

Lee served in the Submarine Service for seven years before leaving the Royal Navy to read History at the University of Liverpool. Lee became an enthusiastic student of the history of India, the East India Company, and colonial violence and genocide. Graduating with a First-Class Honours Degree, Lee went on to complete an MLitt Degree before entering teacher training at the University of Cambridge. In addition to teaching History at Canford, Lee coaches hockey, and instructs cadets undergoing training with the CCF. Outside of school, Lee enjoys travelling, board games, skiing, and baking. He is currently an EPQ supervisor and a tutor in Wimborne House.

Richard Salmon

BA (University of Southampton)
PGCE (University of Exeter)

Richard has taught at Canford since 2002. He is currently Assistant Head (Pupils) and Head of Connections. He was Housemaster of Court House from 2005 to 2016. Richard also coaches Hockey and Tennis, is a section leader in the CCF, and among other things, enjoys kite-surfing and outdoor pursuits in his spare time.

Isabelle Waterfall

BA (Oxon)

Izzy read History at the University of Oxford, where she specialised in 20th century American and Russian history. Here, she achieved a First Class Honours Degree, and her thesis, which combined her love of music and of History, was awarded the Kirk-Greene Prize for the best in African History across the University. After working in the state sector for two years, she completed her PGCE in Secondary History with the University of Exeter, where she was awarded the Ted Wragg award for outstanding trainee within her cohort. Outside of school, Izzy enjoys hiking and yoga. She is currently a tutor in Marriotts House.
