The department also offers specialist teaching and exam preparation on an individual basis and in small groups for Mandarin Chinese, Italian, Russian, Portuguese and Polish at extra cost.

Alongside the native-speaker and bilingual pupils taking GCSEs and A-levels in their own languages, there are many non-native pupils learning other languages outside the main curriculum and achieving excellent grades at GCSE.

In the academic year 2016-2017, pupils were learning and took exams in 10 other languages: Arabic, Chinese, Dutch, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Polish, Russian, Turkish and Urdu.
