Stuart Gordon

Head of Department
BA, PGCE (University of Southampton)

Stuart joined Canford after eight years at Hampshire Collegiate School, Romsey and became Head of Maths in 2016. As well as teaching Mathematics to all year groups, Stuart coaches Rugby and Hockey and helps with CCF. Stuart is married with two young children and a dog, all of whom enjoy the great outdoors and the local beaches.

Richard Baldwin

Richard joined Canford in 2009 as Head of Maths after holding a similar position teaching in grammar schools in Devon and Dorset. Being an engineering graduate he enjoys teaching Mechanics as well as solving differential equations. He is far too competitive in the Cross-Country club for a man of his age. Richard stepped down as Head of Department to take up his current role as Head of Sixth Form (Academic).

Henry Bishop

BSc (University of Exeter)
MEd (Open University)

Henry joined Canford in 2003 after a career of 12 years in Finance and Management Consultancy. He is half-French and has lived and worked in the UK, France, Germany and much of Eastern Europe. He is particularly interested in how the Greeks and other civilisations initially developed the Maths we use today. Henry was previously Deputy Housemaster for Monteacute House and Head of Mathematics and is currently Housemaster of Franklin House. He coaches Hockey and Tennis and helps with the CCF, particularly enjoying taking expeditions into the mountains.

Jessica Craig

Prior to joining Canford's Maths department in 2018, Jessica worked in Washington DC promoting STEM education and collaboration between schools, universities and corporations. Originally from Gibraltar, she is a keen sailor and dancer and has represented the country nationally.

Rob Hoey

MEng (Cantab)

Rob joined Canford in 2020 after 17 years in the British Army. He’s genuinely enjoying a return to Maths and is fascinated in particular by Maths as the ‘science of patterns’, whether geometric or numerical or otherwise. He is also Head of Adventure, overseeing Canford’s extensive programme of expeditions and challenges including Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and Ten Tors, as well as tutoring in Salisbury House, running the Royal Marines CCF and helping with rowing when he can. As a family, his wife and three young children are happiest on the water, in the mountains or involved with their local church.

Clive Jeffery

BA, MEng (Oxon)

Clive teaches Mathematics to all levels and his speciality is Mechanics. Clive also runs Ichthyans, the informal Christian society. Clive coaches Hockey and Tennis and has developed Groundforce, an outdoor/environmental activity for Fourth Form pupils.

Will Moreland

MMath (University of Durham)

Having first joined Canford in 2014, Will is now on his second stint at the school. He combines his teaching with being the live in tutor for School House, as well as being heavily involved in both rowing and CCF. A keen triathlete and avid follower of American Football having played at Durham University, he is always eager to participate in new challenges and travels.

Owen Parkin

BA (University of Bath)

A relatively late starter in the teaching world due to a career in Professional Cricket, Owen joins Canford from Milton Abbey School where he was a Housemaster. A graduate in Mathematics from Bath University, he is fascinated by Probability and how Statistics in general can be used to help solve real live problems. Owen is Housemaster of Lancaster House and is a keen Rugby follower. Other interests include Squash, Bridge, Chess and Golf.

Lucy Ralph

BSc (University of Surrey)
PGCE in Education with QTS

Before coming to Canford, Lucy’s journey has led her through A-level Maths and Further Maths, a Maths degree at the University of Surrey, the role as a Maths Teaching Assistant, a Maths tutor, and a full time Maths teacher and numeracy co-ordinator at St Edwards School. In her free time, Lucy likes to go swimming, walking, running or cycling outdoors in her local area- especially with her husband and family.

Katie Salmon

MA, PGCE (Cantab), ARCO

Katie was organ scholar at Christ's College, Cambridge and Wells Cathedral. She took a PGCE in Music and Maths before taking up the post of Organist and Music teacher at Cheltenham College. She then became Director of Music at Dulwich International College in Phuket, Thailand, and now teaches Shell class music and directs the Concert band and Cantabile Choir, Maths and RS at Canford. Katie is Housemistress of Marriotts House.

Jack Wilson

MEng (University of Bristol)
PGCE (University of Exeter)

Prior to joining Canford in 2019, Jack taught in schools in the UK and abroad before completing his PGCE through the University of Exeter. Jack is the live-in tutor of Franklin House and when he is not on duty you'll find him kitesurfing at one of the local beaches or mountain biking in the New Forest.
