John joined Canford in September 2016, having taught Latin and Greek for almost a decade in one of London’s leading grammar schools. His academic interests include linguistics, logic and mathematics, particularly the advances made by ancient mathematicians. In addition to his teaching at school, John has for many years been a Tutor at the annual JACT Greek Summer School, and he is also an Advisor for Latin on the Classical Association’s Teaching Board. John is also a House Tutor in Franklin House.

Alex joined Canford in 2016, moving to Dorset from the North East. His passion is for ancient poetics, and the comparative study of heroic narrative poetry (especially early Greek hexameter and the Babylonian Epic of Gilgameš). Alongside Latin and Greek Alex reads Akkadian cuneiform, which he has offered as a Fourth Form activity. Alex was a keen boxer, and plans to offer some training to interested students at Canford. He is also a Tutor in Court House.
