Sam Leiper
PGCert (University of Cambridge)
Sam has been teaching in the Philosophy & Theology department since 2012 and was appointed Head of Department in 2016. He enjoys coaching Football and Rugby and is a tutor in Lancaster House.
Ieuan Weir
Ieuan joined Canford having spent the previous 12 years teaching in a selective independent school in the Midlands (KHVIII) - where he was Head of Year 11 and Head of Religious Studies. He is an avid sports fan and particularly enjoys playing and coaching hockey and cricket. He was appointed Deputy Head Academic in September 2018.
Patricia Gibbons
Before joining Canford for September 2017, Patricia was Head of Department at the Lady Eleanor Holles School, West London. She loves the outdoors – running, walking, nature-spotting, and enjoys writing.
Phil Jack
Rev Phil Jack combines his teaching role within the Philosophy and Theology department with that of Canford's Chaplain. His undergraduate degree was in Architecture from Nottingham University which was followed 7 years later by a second degree in Theological and Pastoral Studies at Oak Hill College. In between, he worked as an Accountant with PricewaterhouseCoopers and also for a Trust that run activity holidays for young people. Post ordination and pre-Canford, he was the student minister at a church in Oxford for 5 years. He is a passionate sportsman and will play anything that involves a ball - in the past mostly rugby, but now squash, golf and cricket.
Emily Wright
PGCE (University of Oxford)
Emily joined Canford in September 2019 following working at Headington School Oxford for three years from an NQT. Emily has taught both RS and Geography and has been on many trips including an A-Level and IB Geography trip to the Alps for two years. Emily has also been to Ethiopia twice on a school exploration trip and linked to a charity to build facilities for schools in rural areas. Emily has an interest in reading, running and sports such as netball, cricket and dodgeball. At Canford Emily will be a Fourth Form Tutor in Salisbury House.
