Each year the European Commission runs a translation competition for senior students in schools and colleges across Europe.
Canford's latest Partnership link is with the Awutu-Winton Senior High School in Ghana. The school has been set up by the EDP Trust, which was formed in 2009 with the aim of promoting educational initiatives in the developing world.
Awutu-Winton Senior High School operates as the only free secondary school for Southern Ghanaian children, providing the opportunity of an education to those who might otherwise not get beyond primary school. Students also have the opportunity to participate in social enterprise businesses, including selling juice and bee-keeping. Like all Canford Partnership Projects, our aim is to create a longstanding and ongoing relationship with the EDP Trust, the school and the local community in Ghana.
When Canford visited Awutu as part of the partnership trip in 2018 the school had brand new labs, but no equipment in them. Canford kindly donated equipment to them, you can imagine what a difference this has made for pupils.
This footage shows the students hard at work in their new science lab.
