Katie Salmon

Katie arrived at Canford 19 years ago with her husband, Richard. They have lived on site since then - 11 years in Court House where Richard was Housemaster, and just over a year living in de Lacy House where Katie acted as Housemistress while covering for maternity leave. They love boarding life and were delighted to join Marriotts in September 2021.

Katie has a Music degree from Christ’s College, Cambridge where she was also Organ Scholar. She met Richard while teaching at Cheltenham College before they both moved to Phuket in Thailand for 2 years to be Heads of their respective departments (Music and History) at Dulwich International College.  Katie is also qualified to teach Maths, which she teaches here alongside Music and Classics. Richard is Assistant Head (Pupils).

They are both passionate kitesurfers and regard Cornwall as home. They have 2 children, Jack (18) who left Canford last year, and Joanna (17), who is in the Sixth Form at Canford.
