Sixth Form Sport
Canford has a fine reputation for sport. England Hockey, Bath Development Rugby, Hampshire Cricket and GB Rowing are among recent Canfordian achievements. There is a full programme of school fixtures in all the major and many of the minor, sports with the opportunity to take your sport to the highest levels with specialist expert coaching staff. In the Sixth Form, you have the chance to play for, and help manage, the top teams in the school which is not only exciting in terms of match opportunities but also helps to develop strong teamwork and leadership skills.
Sports facilities at Canford are of a very high standard. There is plenty of choice for sport within the school’s 250 acres of grounds. The facilities include squash courts, two Astroturf pitches and an historic Real Tennis court; Canford is one of only two schools to possess one. The sports centre boasts a gymnasium and fitness suite and an indoor heated swimming pool was completed in 2009. Few schools can boast their own golf course in the grounds and the sport is widely enjoyed. The proximity of the river is exploited by our rowers and the ample, flat playing fields encourage high standards.
