The Old Canfordian Society (OCS) is the membership organisation for all pupils who have experienced a Canford education. Many Honorary Old Canfordians also exist, normally long-serving members of Canford staff. The OCS committee is a group of OC volunteers who meet to discuss the business of the OC Society.
A full calendar of OC events is organised by the school Development Office, including Reunion Lunches, careers networking events, a London Drinks Party, occasional regional gatherings and overseas reunions. In addition, a network of overseas OC Reps provide a Canford contact for OCs living or travelling around the world.
The OCS also helps give back to Canford School. It instigated the first Careers Symposium and for numerous years helped to organise the event. They now sponsor the Careers Convention for Lower Sixth Formers, which is organised by the school Development and Careers Office, providing a day of careers advice from OCs in a range of industries. The OC Society also gives donations to Canford School from time to time, when a project is identified that would be of benefit to the school but is outside of the normal budget. Recent donations have included the refurbishment of the stone crest above the Assembly (Gisborough) Hall and a health centre golf buggy.
Finally, OC sport is thriving, with OC representatives for hockey, cricket, rugby, netball, golf, rowing and many other sports. There is an annual OC Golf Day held on the school course and the club has over 100 active members, making it one of the largest OC groups. Each year a Cygnets Cricket week happens in the second week of July, and OC teams have participated in the Bournemouth Sevens tournament in late May.
For more information on OC sport or how you can get involved, please contact the Development Office.
