Canford 100

2023 marked the centenary of Canford’s foundation, on 15^th May 1923. Our main celebrations were held to coincide with this date during the second half of the academic year. A Foundation Service in Salisbury Cathedral took place on Friday 28^th April, a Proms in the Park style garden party on Sunday 25^th June and an Old Canfordian drinks party at the Lansdowne Club in London on Thursday 12th October

We shared our anniversary with Stowe School as part of the same schools group and a number of sports fixtures took place over the year between our schools culminating at Henley Royal Regatta where alumni from the two schools participated in a Centenary Row Past. Our new Canford film celebrating our centenary is available to watch on our dedicated Canford School YouTube channel. A book celebrating the centenary of 'Canford in 100 Objects' and other merchandise is available to purchase from the links further down this page. A centenary sculpture was commissioned from renowned sculptor Zoe Wilson and was unveiled on Thursday 7th December marking the final event in our year of celebrations.

We are very grateful to the Old Canfordian Society which supported and subsidised a number of events and projects.

Centenary Limited Edition Prints

Following OC Anthony Eyton's (B41) visit to Canford in 2021 (see OC Magazine October 2021 link below), we are delighted to confirm that he will be presenting his original picture to the Headmaster in May 2023 to coincide with his 100th birthday. There is a limited edition of 15 signed giclee prints which are now available at a cost of £300 each (unframed). Canford Sphere

The Canford Sphere now stands in pride of place close to the Lancaster Lawn. Exquisite scaled replicas of the Canford Sphere and a fine art print of the sculpture, created by award winning sculptor Zoe Wilson incorporating the school's core values, are available to purchase direct from Zoe's website. Our core aim of the overall project was to enable parents, pupils and OCs to take away a beautiful reminder of Canford. All proceeds from sales will benefit the Martin Marriott Foundation for bursaries. More information about the Canford Sphere and purchase options can be found via the link below.

Canford's first 100 years book

Archivist Richard Knott has recorded Canford’s first 100 years through 100 objects in a beautifully written and illustrated keepsake journal chronicling important artefacts and objects of interest from across the decades. The book will contain over 180 pages of text and illustrations. The initial limited edition print run is of 100 copies priced at £50 each and these are now available to pre-order. The book will be printed in summer 2023.

Centenary Sculpture by Zoë Wilson

The Canford Sphere representing the school's four core values couplets was created by Zoe Wilson and unveiled to mark the end of the centenary celebrations on 7th December 2023.
